Set up of Entry Code Groups

1 minute read

From a reporting perspective it is best to set up your Entry Code Groups in SICS with unique names, otherwise if you have two with the same name (for example where they relate to different Entry Code Group Categories) then the value reported of any measure objects (e.g. the premium) will be multiplied by 2.

If for some reason you require that two entry code groups in SICS have the same name, then to avoid getting incorrect results when using measure objects you have two options:

  • You must remember to always include the Entry Code Group

Category in the list of objects to be returned in your report. Or

  • You must define a special Entry Code Group Category in SICS for reporting purposes. For example for on-line statistics in SICS it is recommended that an Entry Code Group Category called “Accounting Report” be set up. If this contains all the Entry Code Groups that you wish to report on in Business Objects then you can use this category, otherwise in SICS you should define a special Entry Code Group Category for “Business Objects Reporting”, and set up all the Entry Code Groups you require under this category. In each report you write, remember to add a condition that the Entry Code Group Category be equal to the one you have defined.

It is far better however to give all Entry Code Groups in SICS unique names.
