13.2. Access Security Manager Window
Security icon
When you double-click the Security icon in the System Administration folder, you see the Access Security Manager window, which allows you to turn security on or off, create users and user roles, and view the system-defined use cases.

Activate/Deactivate Security #
At the top of the Access Security Manager window is the Options menu. When you click this menu, you will see the Access Security option. You can select to Activate or Deactivate to turn security on or off for the entire system. This applies to Business process security and Data-sensitive security. Access code security is not controlled by this function.
Activate/Deactivate Logon Version Check #
At the top of the Access Security Manager window is the Options menu. When you click this menu, you will see the Logon Version Check option.
The Logon ‘Version Check’ menu lets you active or deactivate the Logon Version Check performed during logon. When turned on, the system checks that the version of the client workstation or system administration utility being used, is compatible with the database version. If a user logs on using a SICS workstation or system administration utility that is not compatible with the database, a warning message appears and the login is terminated (for a workstation) or the user can continue (for a system administration utility). This is to allow upgrading an old database using a new version of SICS.
The Logon Version Check should normally not be turned off.
User Authorization Interface #
In the Options menu, you can indicate whether the User Authorization Interface is in use or not.
Some companies has a centralised tool to administrate SICS access rights for its employees. When this option is selected, SICS will check with this external system to grant or deny access rights for SICS users. Details are described here: User Authorization Interface
Mass Update DB User and Password #
Users may be registered with a DB User ID and DB Password. The DB User ID and DB Password are in most cases the same for all users. When e.g. the database is copied to a new database, this mass update of DB User ID and DB Password will save a lot of work.

- Enter New DB User ID
- Enter New DB Password
- Press OK
Note! Only users with an existing DB User ID/Password are updated

The System Users tab displays all users defined in the system. Click the right mouse button to see the pop-up menu where you can choose between:
- New to create a new user. (When you create a new user, however, that user must also be registered in the database-not just SICS.)
- View to open the View User window. Here you see the user name, Logon ID, User ID, DB Password (if any). Click the Edit button to switch from View mode to Edit mode if you need to make changes.
- Copy user: To streamline the setting up of new users, it is possible to copy an existing user to create a new user.
- Sort to sort users by User ID or by last name.
