2.2. Installation of the DBMS

The Database Management System (DBMS) must be installed and configured by your Database Administrator (DBA) before any SICS software is set up. Please refer to the documentation for your particular DBMS for this process.

The requisite components for the subsequent SICS installation are as follows:

  • The DBMS should be properly installed, configured, and tested according to the vendor’s specifications. Since operating environments, network transports, and physical hardware vary from site to site, it is the responsibility of your database and network support organisations to verify the installation and configuration of the DBMS.
  • A JDBC data source must be configured on each computer that will run SICS. The JDBC data source must point to the DBMS component which will contain the SICS database.
