Introduction

4.4.1. Introduction

This document describes the steps that must be followed to update a SICS schema of a previous version to version 25.3.

The procedure requires a SICS System Administration Utility where the user is logged in as the owner of the database schema to be updated.

It is highly recommended that you take a backup of the database before you run the update. If the update should fail it may be necessary to revert to this backup.

The database must not be accessible to other users during the update procedure. The update procedure can fail or produce inconsistent results if other users are accessing the database at the same time.

Clients running SICS P&C and Life on a combined database must use the Life System Administration Utility when performing the upgrade, except where the procedure explicitly says to use the P&C System Administration Utility.

The procedure of this document is intended for upgrading from a SICS version 4.5.2 schema or higher. For schemas of version 4.5.1 or lower, the database schema must be first upgraded to 4.5.2. Then the schema can be upgraded to 25.3 following the procedure in this document.
