9.21. Desktop Help Menu Link

Introduction #

The Help Menu Link is a page where we can add configurable links that will appear in SICS desktop as a menu item in the Help Menu.

  1. Select System Administration from SICS desktop.
  2. Open System Parameter Maintenance.
  3. Go to the Desktop Administration page.
  4. Select the Help Menu Links.

In the Help Menu Link page there will be a table with 2 columns: Menu Text and URL. The user will be able to create, delete, edit, view entries in the table.

Configuration #

Using SysAdmin Utility #

Menu Text Name of the Help Menu Link 200
URL URL are the links for rescpective Menu Text 300

To create the new links.

  1. Select the Help Menu Link from the Desktop Administration system parameter page.
  2. Select the Create option from the pop-up menu in the Menu Text.
  3. Add a ‘Menu Text’ with the maximum length of 200 characters and ‘URL’ with the maximum length of 300 characters in the create window.
  4. Select OK to save.

To view the created link.

  1. Select the Help Menu Link from the Desktop Administration system parameter page.
  2. Right click on any created link then Select View from the pop-up menu.
  3. View window appears with the values.

To edit the created links.

  1. Select the Help Menu Link from the Desktop Administration System Parameter page.
  2. Right click on any created link then Select Edit from the pop-up menu.
  3. Edit the entries of the desired Menu Text and URL.
  4. Select OK to save.

  1. This use case ‘System Parameter Help Menu Link’ protects from modifying the Help menu URLs in system parameters.
  2. The User can’t edit Help menu URLs from System parameter if below use case is not assigned to user.

You are allowed to delete an entries. This may be necessary if the entry is no longer in use or it has been created by mistake.

  1. Select the _Help Menu Link_from the Desktop Administration System Parameter page.
  2. Select the entries that you want to delete.
  3. Select Delete from the pop-up menu.

The entry is removed from the Help Menu Link display list.
