Splash Screen Branding #
The SICS splash screen is graphic shown while SICS loads. This graphic contains a background image and the DXC logo. During the loading process, the SICS version and build information is painted on this graphic to inform the user which version of SICS is loading.
The background graphic image changes annually and as part of creating the new graphic, the position of the DXC logo and the SICS version information may change.
Customization #
Some customers brand SICS internally by changing the shipped background graphic and adding their own logo and text. However, as the splash graphic changes with each release this may involve extra work by the customer to adjust the branding to fit the revised SICS version information overlay.
From SICS v4.5.1 the splash screen loading process will now automatically load and overlay a custom additional graphic on top of the splash background graphic. The position of this graphic will respect any changes to the position of the DXC logo and the SICS version information, simplifying the process of internally branding SICS for a customer’s installation.
The branding graphic image file should be located and named:
\runtime\inc\customerlogo.png
It should be of size 230px wide by 78px high. SICS will resize the file to this size, so creating a file of a different size will only result in scaling artefacts.
Since the PNG format is used, transparency may be used in the branding image file and it will be respected when drawn on the splash background graphic.
This can be used both for customer branding and also to help identify test vs production installations.
