Introduction
The SICS Java Launcher is a standalone Java application which can be used for distributing a centrally installed version of DXC SICS to a ’local’ folder.
The benefits are:
- Users do not hold file locks on the central installation. Therefore, it will be possible to replace the central installation with a newer version of SICS.
- Depending on network configuration, it may be faster to start SICS from the ’local’ folder, once the SICS runtime has been copied to this folder.
The SICS Java Launcher supports multiple users to start DXC SICS from the same ’local’ folder.
If you want to give your users access to DXC SICS P&C as well as DXC SICS Life, then you must set up a separate Launcher directory for each DXC SICS product.
If you want to give your users access to several different versions of DXC SICS, then you must set up a separate Launcher directory for each version of DXC SICS.
However, if you want to provide access only to the most recent installed version of DXC SICS, then you can reuse the initial Launcher directory and just make sure the folder names in SICSJavaLauncher.ini match the latest installation.
