Universe Customisation

16.8. Universe Customisation

Import the “old” universe version to the machine and open up the new universe which is stored outside the repository on your machine. Saving the new universe on desktop makes it easy to find.

In the old universe, open up the universe parameters and add something so it can be apart from the new universe, for example the universe version or like it has been done above and click OK.

This will be the result and it will be easier to tell them apart

Change the view from vertical to horizontal.

The first step is to copy the new alias tables from one universe to the other universe. Find “custom area” in the universe. This is where all the new alias tables are gathered for easy finding.

Highlight the tables, right click and select COPY. Find an empty area in the new universe where it can be pasted in the alias tables.

Right click and select paste - this will paste all the new alias tables into the universe.

If any of the table names are changed it means that R&D have added the table or that something has been changed to an already existing table.

Do not copy that table as customizations to use the proper table supported from R&D has to be adjusted.

Once get all the new alias tables in the universe it is time to focus on the objects.

Change the view to become vertical, place the mouse in the old universe where the objects and classes are, and click CTRL+F to get the find window up.

In the find window, enter the first object “Object1000” and click Find. This will find the object in the universe.

Find Object1000 and its defination, and find the same object in the new universe and once both are found,

Copy the object name from old and paste it into the new universe.

Copy the SQL from the old and paste it into the new universe.

Look at the type and change the type in the new to match how it was defined in the old.

Look in the property table and make the new look like the old.

Once done with this, parse the object in the new universe and see that it works - once working move on to next object by going to the find window and enter Object1001.

and repeat the whole process

Universe customization document is there as a reference.

The proper definitons are in the universe, so if there are any discrepancies between the document and universe ALWAYS trust the universe as that is production universe with the correct definitions.

The universe document is a dead document and should only be used as reference to see that you have not forgotten anything where as the latest changes to SQL will always be in the universe.
