4.9. System Messages Handling

The System Messages facility enables you to view and edit validation, error and warning messages generated by SICS. Using this function, you can adapt the system messages to meet the needs of your company’s business.

Double-click the Messages icon to see the Find: System Messages window.

This window provides system message display and modification capability.

Find System Messages #

The Properties tab in the System Messages window lets you filter the find so that only certain records are displayed.

Log Event: Select an allowable value for the Log Event attribute to retrieve only those messages that match the selection.

Write Walkback: Select an allowable value for the Write Walkback attribute to retrieve only those messages that match the selection.

Double-click a message in the list to open the message edit window.

Edit System Messages #

You can edit all message details in the Edit System Message window except the message identifier.

Write to Event Log: If this is selected, an event log record will be written whenever the message is raised by the system and the transaction is committed to the database.

Write a Walkback Trace: If this is selected, a walkback (stack trace) will be written whenever the message is raised by the system.
