System Setup #

Claim Identifiers #

Claim identifiers are unique identifiers that are used to identify a claim and are generated automatically by the system. The claim identifier can then be used to quickly search for claim details.

Inward Claims Identifier Assignment

Description
U/W Year and Sequential Number Selected: Inwards Claim identifier generated using UW Year as first four digits; followed by a sequential number.

Cleared: If no option is selected; identifiers are generated as if Sequential Numbers only.

Applicable for: PC and CEDE
Occurrence Year Or Year of Loss And Sequential Number Selected: Inwards Claim identifier generated using Occ Year as first four digits; followed by a sequential number.

Cleared: If no option is selected; identifiers are generated as if Sequential Numbers only.

Applicable for: PC and CEDE
Sequential number only Selected: Inwards Claim identifier generated using a sequential number only.

Cleared: If no option is selected; identifiers are generated as if Sequential Numbers only.

Applicable for: PC and CEDE
Inward Claims Identifier Prefix Selected: The inward claim identifier will be allocated defined prefix; immediately followed by the generated claim identifier as per selected generation method.

Values: String - max.2 positions.

Cleared: No prefix is assigned to the inward claim identifier.

Relevant when: You want to use a prefix to easily distinguish between inwards and outwards claims.

Applicable for: PC and CEDE
Start Claim Identifiers sequential numbering from Selected: The first inward claim created in the system will get the number entered here. This number can be edited after claims exist in the database.

Validations: If changing the number after claims exists on the database, the new number must be higher than the last used identifier number.

Cleared: Field cannot be blank.

Relevant when: System is initially set up with system parameters. Changing the sequential number at a later stage is relevant if the e.g. has been structural changes for the base company and they want that all new claims should have a new identifier numbering.

Applicable for: P&C

Note! It is not possible to change how the identifiers shall be generated after claims exist in the database.

Outward Claims Identifier Assignment

Description

Headline Loss Identifiers #

Description
Assign Manual Headline Loss Identifier Selected: The Headline Loss ID must be manually provided when creating a new Headline Loss, and can be modified when updating.

Cleared: The system generates the Headline Loss ID automatically, and the ID is no longer required upon creation, nor available in edit.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that the Headline Loss IDs follow a specific format.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Headline Loss Identifier Prefix Selected: The automatically generated Headline Loss ID will be assigned the defined prefix.

Cleared: The Headline Loss ID is generated without a prefix.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Start Headline Loss Identifiers sequential numbering from Selected: The Headline Loss ID series will start being generated from the specified number.

Cleared: The Headline Loss ID sequence number starts from 1.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE

Miscellaneous #

In this part of the claim system parameters, you can set parameters for several different parts of the claim.

Description
Allow Edit Limit On Claim For Non Prop Treaty Selected: End-user can modify the Limit Condition on the claims recorded on a non-proportional treaty. This allows the claims handler enter Limit Condition directly on the claim (a new tab will appear under Business Info on the claim). Limits recorded on the Claim Business Info - Limit and Share tab have higher priority than those entered on the business level and are the limits that will be used in FGU calculations, and also in claim worksheet validations.

Cleared: Limit part of Limit/ Shares condition is removed. Limits from the Business Limit condition will be used in calculations and validations.

Relevant when: One reason for using this is to handle indexed claims when each payment in reality is a collection of a number of smaller payments, each being calculated with a different index. Instead of using the automatic calculations that SICS provides, it might prove easier to just enter the new indexed limits.

Applicable for: P&C

Do not Validate Claim Limits against Aggregate Limit Selected: The system does not validate if the entered Cover amount or Our Share thereof (Payment and Incurred limits) exceed the Aggregate Limit pr our share of the Aggregate limit on business condition.

Cleared: The entered limit is validated agaians the Aggregate Limit on business.

Relevant when: You do not want ot have these validations appearing, and maintain all validations in the Claim Accouracy framework.

Applicable for: P&C
FGU With Annuity Selected: The From Ground Up recording and Quotation Figures layout provides separate columns for Loss and Annuity figures, with a semi-automatic calculation in the Claim FGU worksheet.

Cleared: The option to register annuity amounts is not available.

Relevant when: When your losses contains amount for both Loss and Annuity.

Applicable for: P&C
FGU Inuring Recovery in Use Selected: The From Ground Up functionality is extended with an Inuring tab where you can register inuring Recovery information specific to the claim. The inuring amounts are calculated based on the FGU Advisory, and deducted from the FGU figures prior to distribution.

Cleared: The Inuring tab is not available.

Relevant when: When you have specific Inuring relevant to the claim, for example Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund

Applicable for: P&C
Additional Case Reserves in FGU Selected: The From Ground Up recording is extended with columns for Own Incurred Estimate, Additional Case Reserves and Additional Case Reserves LAE. The distribution is updated with new columns for ACR, ACR LAE, and ACR AAD. Note: Switching this parameter OFF, after first having activated it, may result in incorrect distributions in FGU.

Cleared: The option to register Own Incurred Estimate and thus calculate the ACR is not enabled.

Relevant when: If you want the FGU calculations to handle and distribute the claim across layers also considering any ACRs.

Applicable for: P&C
Allow Advisory on Closed Info/Prec Claims Selected: New From Ground Up Advisories can be created on Closed Claims which have disposition either Informational or Precautionary. Worksheet creation is still prevented.

Cleared: New FGU Advisories cannot be created on Closed Claims.

Relevant when: When you want to maintain the FGU development for certain closed claims.

Applicable for: P&C
FGU Indicator Enabled Selected: An indicator on Claim Properties and highlights displaying whether the accounting should be made primarily via FGU or manual. When selected a new Base Company Specific Claim Parameter is enabled.

Cleared: The indicator is not enabled.

Relevant when: When you want to control which claims should be processed via FGU and which ones should be processed via manual claim accounting.

Applicable for: P&C
Maintain FGU Incurred Position Selected: A change of an FGU Paid amount results in an opposite change to the corresponding existing FGU Reserve amount, thus maintaining the Incurred Position of the ‘group’. The automatic change only takes place when existing reserves are different to 0.

Cleared: A change to an FGU Paid amount does not automatically impact the corresponding reserve.

Relevant when: When you want to maintain the FGU Incurred position.

Applicable for: P&C
Disallow Negative Reserves Selected: Negative reserves are not allowed, neither when entered manually, nor through automatic reduction.

Cleared: FGU Reserves may be negative, provided the sum for the ‘group’ is not less than 0.

Relevant when: When you want to ensure that reserves are not less than zero.

Applicable for: P&C
Keep Own Incurred Estimate Selected: The system keeps the existing amount of Own Incurred equal to latest advisory for current claim, and calculates ACR accordingly.

Cleared: The option to register Own Incurred Estimate is available, but Own Incurred is not copied from previous advisory.

Relevant when: When you want to keep Own Incurred from latest claim advisory.

Applicable for: P&C
Include Client IBNR/LAE in worksheet Selected: From Ground Up figures can be recorded for Client IBNR and Client IBNR LAE, and figures are considered when calculating distribution, and in the worksheet.

Cleared: Client IBNR is available, but is purely informational.

Relevant when: When you want to maintain and book information about the cedent’s ibnr figures separately, rather than maintain this as part of your own Additional Case Reserves.Note: This parameter should not be switched on unless you also have activated the Additional Case Reserves in FGU parameter.

Applicable for: P&C
Market From Ground Up Loss in Use Selected: New window available on claims which allows users to register the From Ground Up Loss for Market.

Cleared: Market From Ground Up Loss fields are not available.

Relevant when: You want to register the Market From Ground Up Loss figures for each claim.

Applicable for: P&C
Activate Claims Program Selected: Claims Program functionality in SICS will be activated. A new icon will appear under the Claims Folder on the desktop (after a full refresh).

Cleared: Claims Program functionality is not available.

Relevant when: The Claims Program makes it easier and faster for the claims handler to administrate individual claims and claims sections.

Applicable for: P&C
Mandatory Claims Program Link for Ass. Bus. Tty. Indv. Claims Selected: System will require that all individual claims on assumed treaty business be linked to a Claims Program.

Cleared: Individual claims on assumed treaty business does not have to be linked to a Claims Program.

Relevant when: Only available if the Activate Claims Program parameter is selected.

Applicable for: P&C
Allow Multiple Base Companies in Claims Program Selected: You can add treaties for more than one Base company in the same Claims Program.

Cleared: Only treaties for the same Base Company can be included in the same Claims Program.

Relevant when: If the different Base Companies within your group sign a share in the same treaty, and you want to handle the claims efficiently, you could activate the parameter.

Applicable for: P&C
Link to a Headline Loss is Mandatory when Closing Claim Worksheet Selected: System should stop users from closing the claim worksheet if missing Headline Loss Link.

Cleared: System will allow to close the claim worksheet. If mandatory parameters are selected, system will only raise error message when changing the status of the claim.

Relevant when: When mandatory Headline loss link parameters for Reporting Unit(s) and/or Main Class of Business(es) for Main Base Company is/are selected.

Applicable for: P&C, Cede
Event IBNR in Use Selected: Enables the entire Event IBNR functionality, which allows you to group claims linked to Headline Losses into sub-groups, for which you can calculate and book Event IBNR.

Cleared: The Event IBNR functionality is not enabled.

Relevant when: You want to calculate and book the Event IBNR in SICS, using the Headline Loss as a basis.

Applicable for: P&C
Mandatory Link When Event IBNR Group On Linked Headline Selected: The event ibnt group link is mandatory only for claims linked to Headlines with Event IBNR Groups. Claims linked to other Headlines can be booked on without this link defined.

Cleared: All claims linked to a Headline Loss must also be linked to an Event IBNR Group before any bookings can take place.

Relevant when: You want to use the Event IBNR functionality for specific Headline Losses only.

Applicable for: P&C
Base Company Mandatory For Event Group Selected: Requires that the Event Group contains one, and only one Base Company. Activating the parameter also enables the Base Company filter criterion option in Event IBNR Mass Update Order.

Cleared: The Event Group can be more general, containing more Base Companies, or none (covering all). The Event IBNR Mass Update order cannot filter on Base Companies.

Relevant when: You want to calculate the Event IBNRs per Base Company.

Applicable for: P&C
Actual Losses in Event IBNR Currency Only Selected: The Actual Loss Bookings which forms the basis for the IBNR calculation are only those made in the same currency as the Event Group’s currency.

Cleared: The Actual Losses are converted into the Event Group’s currency, using the rate of exchange per as of date for each payment, and the latest daily rate for the accumulated reserve.

Relevant when: You want to calculate and book the Event IBNRs per original booking currency

Applicable for: P&C
Set Accounting Year Equal To Booking Year Selected: The Accounting Year is set to be the same as the Booking Year on Event IBNR worksheets which are created through the Event IBNR Mass Update order

Cleared: The Accounting Year is defaulted to current year

Relevant when: You want to ensure that worksheet can be automatically closed even though Event IBNR is created and booked in a later year than the booking year applied.

Applicable for: P&C
Validate Instalment Premium Booked Selected: The system returns a warning if premium has not been booked on the Insured Period when a new claim is created.

Cleared: There is no validation that premium has been booked when creating claims.

Relevant when: You want to be made aware that premium has not been booked when creating claims.

Applicable for: P&C
Claimant Mandatory for Class of Business Behaviour “Casualty” Selected: Claimant is mandatory on claims created on business with this behaviour.

Cleared: There is no validation that Claimant has been defined.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that Claimant is recorded on Claims for specific Lines of Business.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Location Not Validated Against Headline Selected: Claim location is not required to be a sub-set of the Headline Loss location.

Cleared: Location of claims linked to a Headline loss must be a sub-set of the Headline loss location.

Relevant when: When an individual Claim is linked to a Headline Loss, and you do not require the Claim location to be a subset of the Headline loss location.

Applicable for: P&C
Create claim only on lowest leaf section level Selected: the system will not allow creating claims under non-leaf sections. If you select the main section and click the ‘Claim’ icon, a message “Create Claim for non-leaf section is not allowed” will appear to prevent you from creating a claim. When you create Claim from Claim Module, System will apply the same function. When this parameter is selected, and the user is trying to make a sub-section from a section on a business, if not all these Claims are either Closed or Inactive, a full stop message ise raised to prevent this operation.

Cleared: you are allowed to create Claim on both leaf & non-leaf sections. When this parameter is cleared, the system allow make a sub-section from a section on a business.

Relevant when: When you want to control the claim creation only on leaf sections.

Applicable for: P&C & Cede
Claim Bdx In Use Selected: An information whether claims are advised in a borderaux or not. When activated, a new options is available on the Claim Condition of Assumed Business. Primarily, it should be defined on Main Section only, but can be defined on child section if this has a local condition. It must always be set to the same value as defined on Main Section. There are validations that the Claim Bdx indicator is the same for all linked treaties, and if it is not, claim bookings are not allowed. The indicator is reflected on Claims and Claim Programs when the functionality is in use. Additionally, Claim Accuracy rules may be set up using the indicator as one criterion.

Cleared: The Claim Bdx is not available on claim condition.

Relevant when: When you want to maintain information of how claims are advised.

Applicable for: P&C & Cede
Claim Complexity Level In Use Selected: An information whether claims are classified as being Complex, or Non complex. When activated, a new indicator is available on Claim Properties. When the claim is set as Complex the Claim Security checkbox is automatically activated, and therefore ensuring that complex claims are going through that extra level of security.

Cleared: The Complex indicator is not available.

Relevant when: When you want to ensure that claims classified as Complex are subject to an additional level of security.

Applicable for: P&C & Cede
Do not validate OPP against Insured Period for Losses Occurring Selected: Possible to have Original Policy Period start date prior to Insured Period when Claim Basis is Losses Occurring and Claim Trigger Code is None. The Claim Basis will in this situation be considered as Losses Occurring, and all validations and amendment determination will be accordingly.

Cleared: System will validate that Original Policy Period Start date is within the Insured Period.

Relevant when: You do not select this System Parameter if you want the possibility to change a Losses Occurring Claim basis to a Risks Attaching Claim Basis on the claim with relevant validations.

Applicable for: P&C
Defaulted Limit Information on Claim Figures is Not Editable Selected: The limit information (cover and excess, or liability and liability 1 line) that is displayed on Claim Figures is not editable on the claim.

Cleared: Users can edit the defaulted limit information on the claim.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that the limit information reflected on the claim is reflecting that of the business.

Applicable for: P&C
Display Former Business ID on Claim Title Bar Selected: The former business ID as recorded on the business tab is displayed on the title bar of the claim.

Cleared: The former business ID is not displayed on the Claim’s Title bar.

Relevant when: You find it useful also to display the former Business ID to help identifying the claim.

Applicable for: P&C & CEDE
Default Claim Manager from Insured Period Claims Handler Selected: The Claim Manager on new claims is defaulted to the user assigned the Claims Handler responsibilty on Insured Period,provided user still active and has this responsibility assigned in Security.

Cleared: The Claim Manager is not defaulted.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that the Claim Manager is in Alignment with the Business insured period information.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim List On Business: Show Totals Originally Selected: The business claim list will calculate and display Total paid, Total Reserve and Total Incurred amounts initially when you open the claim list.
Note: It is possible to override this option on the claim list itself.

Cleared: No amounts for Total Paid, Total Reserve or Total Incurred are displayed in the business claim list.

Relevant when: Seeing the total figures in claims list helps the user to identify the claim.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim List On Business: Display Other Amount in Claim List: Default Entry Code Sub Category Selected: The Entry Code Sub Category selected will appear in the Selected Other Entry Code field in Limits & Shares for:
* Business Claim List
* Headline loss Claim List
* Claim Program Claim List
* Cedent Claim List
The value can be manually changed on all claims lists except Claim Program Claim List.

Values: All Entry Code Sub Categories

Default: None

Cleared: No Entry Code Sub Category will appear in the Selected Other Entry Code field or in the " Other" column in the claim lists.
A value can be manually entered.

Relevant when: You want to display an additional Entry Code Sub Category value in the “other” column in the claim list e.g. “Loss Expense”. The claim lists give an overview of the essential information/ figures of the claim, and the user is given the opportunity to display a value that is important for this particular claim, headline loss or claim program.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Action Date Selected: Claim Action Date in Claim Section Specific Properties on the claim will be defaulted according to what is defined here. If e.g. 3 years is defined, the Claims Action Date will be 3 years after the date the claim is registered.
Claim Action Date can be manually overridden on the claim.
Whenever a Claim Worksheet is created, the Claim Action Date is automatically updated with As Of Date of the Claim Worksheet (inactivated worksheets are not considered).

Values: Integer + unit of time - minimum 1 maximum 9999

Default: 1 year

Cleared: No Claim Action Date is defaulted when creating new claim, or creating new bookings. Claim Action Date can be manually entered on the claim.

Relevant when: You enter a Claim Action Date to make sure that all claim files are reviewed on a regular basis.

Applicable for: P&C
Headline Loss Link Mandatory for Reporting Units Select the Reporting Units for which you want to make the link to Headline losses mandatory for all individual and interlocking claims.

Selected: The link to Headline Loss is mandatory for Claims created on business with one of the defined Reporting Units.

Cleared: The Headline Loss link is optional.

Relevant when: When you want to ensure that claims for certain Reporting Units cannot be closed without a link to a Headline Loss.

Applicable for: PC

Claim Data Protection #

Description
Data Protection in Use Selected: Enables the Data Protection Functionality which impacts Security, User Roles, Claims Handling and Claim Movement handling. Enables selection of additonal Claim Data Protection sysetm parameters indicating which specific attributes - on a Claim and Claim Movement message should be considered as “sensitive”. Note Setting this parameter in combination with one or more of the below, will automatically protect the selected fields. Only users who are assigned matching Domain Restrictions to their User Role will be able to see data content. Refer to _Domain Restriction “Claim Data Protection Access”.

Cleared: Claim Data Protection is not available.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that sensitive data is protected, and only available to user who should have access to this.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Attributes - Short Description Selected: The Short Description field on a claim is protected, and will display “Protected Data” for all users who have not been granted access based on their assigned User Role.

Cleared: The Claimant Name is not considered as a sensitive data field, and will display actual data content. <br/
Relevant when: You want to ensure that the sensitive data captured in the Short Description is only displayed to relevant users.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Attributes - Insured Name Selected: The Insured Name field on a claim (links) is protected, and will display “Protected Data” for all users who have not been granted access based on their assigned User Role.

Cleared: The Insured Name is not considered as a sensitive data field, and will display actual data content. <br/
Relevant when: You want to ensure that the sensitive data captured in the Insured is only displayed to relevant users.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Attributes - Signature Notes Selected: The Signature Notes of a claim are considered as holding sensitive data, and display “Protected Data” for users who have not been granted access based on their user role.

Cleared: The Signature Notes is not considered to hold sensitive data. <br/
Relevant when: You want to ensure that the sensitive data captured in the Insured is only displayed to relevant users.

Applicable for: P&C
Claim Movement Messsage Attributes - Loss Description Selected: The Loss Description field of an eMessage is considered as holding sensitive data, and will display Protected Data unless user is granted access thorugh his/her user role. As access right is determined based on referenced insured period, the field will display “Protected Data” until message has been referenced, and access right can be determined. If user has access right, data content will be displayed. If user does not have access right, the field will display as “Protected Data”. This impacts Message Highlights, message properties, and message rendered view.

Note To fully protect the emessaging attributes from message raw view (properties tab), and the rendedered view; a Data Protection Security Stylesheet should be defined; in which you identify the elements to be “protected” and how they should display in case user do not have access.

Claim Classifications #

Protection Allocation #

This system parameter allows you to select whether you want to have the non-proportional protection excess of loss assignment on the business to be defaulted to the claim.

Description
Automatic Protection Assignment on Claim Selected: On the Claim Protection Allocation window of the Create New Claim wizard the system will default the non-proportional Excess of Loss Protection Assignment on the business to the claim with the corresponding allocation percentages (the link can be manually deleted).
Light claims will similarly have the non proportional excess of loss protections defaulted when creating claims via web service and cede loader.

If no protection assignment has been defined on the business, a message informs the user that no matching protections exists on the scope of cover and that protection allocation will not be inherited to the claim.

Cleared: You must manually define the non-proportional protections for the claim.

Relevant when: If the non-proportional protection assignments on the business should be inherited to the claim, this system parameter should be selected.

The warning is only enabled when system parameter “Display Bookings and Entry Codes Per Accounting Classifications” has been selected.

Premium must come before the loss amount on Facultative Business Selected: An email will be sent to the user when closing the worksheet, if the loss related amounts (booked on Entry Codes which have the flag Loss Related set on the Entry Code Properties) are booked but the sum of the actual premiums on the already booked/closed worksheet is not positive. Premium related Entry Codes are all those defined in any of the active Entry Code Groups within the system defined Entry Code Group Category Premium Before Loss.

Cleared: No email notification will be given in the above situation.

Relevant when: You want the end-user to be aware before the worksheet is closed that the loss related bookings come before the actual premiums.

Claim Worksheets

Description
Allow Multiple Open Claim Worksheets per Claim-to-Section Link Selected: Possible to have multiple open claim worksheets for the same claim.

Cleared: System will validate that all previous worksheets are closed.

Relevant when: You do not select this System Parameter if you want the system to validate that all previous worksheets are closed. In the claim validation all open and closed worksheets will be included.

Applicable for: P&C
Display Bookings and Entry Codes Per Accounting Classification Selected: The previous bookings and entry codes on the claim worksheet are displayed per accounting classification, and not per claim-to-section link.

Cleared: The previous bookings and entry codes are displayed per claim-to-section link.

Relevant when: You select this parameter if your claims are linked to more than one accounting classification on the same business, and you want to display previous bookings at this level.

Applicable for: PC
Same Accounting Information for all linked Claim Sections Selected: The claim worksheet values which user registers for Accounting year, Accounting (Reference) Period, Accounting Period, Accounting Period From-to dates, due date, and as of date are reflected on all linked claim sections.

Cleared: Accounting information registered for one claim section is not automatically reflected for other linked sections.

Relevant when: The linked claim sections included in the same worksheet should have the same accounting information.

Applicable for: P&C
Enforce Reinstatement Calculation Selected: Reinstatement premium bookings (and associated deductions) are automatically created when worksheet is applied or worksheet’s status is changed. The system reads all businesses included in the worksheet, and calculates reinstatement for those where it is due.

Cleared: In order to calculate reinstatement premium, the user must select a option from a pop-up menu to trigger the reinstatement premium calculation.

Relevant when: You want to improve the workflow and make sure that reinstatement premiums are booked when due without requesting confirmation from the user

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Remove entry codes without adjustments Selected: When a claim worksheet contains entry codes without any adjustments (empty column), the system automatically removes the entry codes from the worksheet when user applies or changes the worksheet status

Cleared: When a claim worksheet contains entry codes without any adjustments (empty column), the system automatically returns confirmation message AC0167 asking if system should generate bookings for entry codes with no adjustments

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Default Balance Split Option for Reinstatement Premium Selected: The Claim Worksheet Balance Split option for reinstatement premium is selected by default, and does not depend on whether reinstatement condition is available and defined.

Cleared: The reinstatement premium balance split option is only selected by default when a reinstatement condition is defined, and is to be calculated per loss.

Relevant when: You want to ensure that any booking of reinstatement premium in a claim worksheet creates a separate balance.

Applicable for: P&C
Default AC from Claim Classification Selected: The Accounting Classification is defaulted for the first initial claim booking by comparing the Claim Classification items with the items defined for each Accounting Classification. When only a single matching Accounting Classification item is found, this is defaulted in the claim worksheet.

Cleared: The defaulted Accounting Classification does not specifically consider the claim’s classifications.

Relevant when: You want to use the claim classification items to determine appropriate Accounting Classification.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Add all linked Businesses to Claim Worksheet Selected: All businesses to which the claim is linked, are automatically added to the worksheet.

Cleared: Only the business from which the Claim Worksheet is created is added to the worksheet. If the claim is linked to more businesses, the user must add these one by one.

Relevant when: You want to facilitate the booking process.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Accounting Information Based on As Of Date Selected: The Accounting Year, Accounting Period, Accounting Period From and To is set by the As of Date. Accounts are ignored, except to determine the Accounting Frequency. The Accounting Period is always based on a Calendar Year approach.

Cleared: The worksheet’s accounting information is based on whether accounts have been defined and are still open, and if so whether they should be considered. The calculation of the Accounting Period is by default based on the Insured Period start date.

Relevant when: You want the as of date to have a clear and recognisable relationship to the applied accounting period.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Create duplicate Technical worksheet from Open Claim worksheet Selected: Enables a new option within an open Claim worksheet which is Transferred to Ledger to create a duplicate Technical Worksheet. The Technical worksheet will be closed. The Claim Worksheet will be locked for further input, except for change of Booking Period. When claim worksheet is inactivated or closed, the Technical Worksheet will be reversed, and the two Technical Worksheets will be paired, if possible.

Cleared: This option is not available.

Relevant when: You want to wait with closing of Claim worksheet until all issues have been resolved, but still include the balances in your books.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Manual AC Split in FGU Worksheet Selected: An option to manually split an FGU booking into multiple Accounting Classifications by adding booking rows to the generated worksheet, and adjust the booked adjustment. New columns appear in the detail section displaying the Distribution and Remaining. DXC recommends that this parameter is only activated if the above parameter “Display Bookings and Entry Codes per Accounting Classification” is also selected. This parameter cannot be selected if “FGU with Annuity” is selected.

Cleared: No additional booking rows can be added to an FGU worksheet.

Relevant when: You want to use the FGU functionality, but split bookings across Accounting Classifications.

Applicable for: P&C
Check for Existing Duplicated Claim Worksheet Balances Selected: System will validate whether the pending open claim worksheet balance(s) is/are having the same UwYR, Currency, and Amount as the existing Closed balances under the same claim. The warning message will be triggered when you click on the “Change Status” option in the lower right Edit Menu of Claim worksheet window, and the “OK” button under the “Worksheet Closing” window.

Regardless of ‘Settled’ or ‘Unsettled’ status, all existing Closed Claim Worksheets (under the same claim as the current claim worksheet) are included in this validation check.

Claim Worksheet in any pending statuses, e.g. Open or Authorized, or status Inactivated are excluded from this validation check.

Claim Worksheet with zero balance will not trigger this validation check.

For the reversed worksheets, both of the source claim worksheet and the target claim worksheet will be excluded from this validation check.

Cleared: System will not do the validation and trigger the warning message even if there is Closed Worksheet wiht same UwYR, Currency and Amount under the same Claim.

Relevant when: Check whether a current Opened Worksheet has a balance which is a duplicate of an existing balance on a Closed Claim Worksheet.

Applicable for: P&C and CEDE
Enable Minor Adjustments in FGU Worksheet Selected: Minor differences are allowed for Paid Loss entry code when splitting bookings across several Accounting Classifications. The minor difference booking is calculated automatically, and is validated against the tolerance limit defined in accounting system parameter. In FGU the minor difference is considered to be part of Paid Loss. The parameter is only enabled if the system parameter Manual AC Split in FGU Worksheet is selected.

Cleared: All FGU entry codes must be fully distributed across the Accounting Classifications before the worksheet can be saved/closed.

Relevant when: You sometimes have minor differences/rounding differences between actually booked figures and the FGU distribution amount.

Applicable for: P&C
Reinstatement Premium Per Insured Period based on Accounting Period To Date Selected: When Assumed Business Reinstatement Premium is calculated Per Insured Period, the calculation should filter loss amounts based on the Accounting Period To date.

Cleared: The per insured period reinstatement premium calculation does not consider accounting period to date. Reinstatement is calculated in either Currency of Premium, or Currency of Loss, as dictated by Reinstatement condition.

Relevant when: When you want to consider the Accounting Period to date in the reinstatement calculation.

Applicable for: P&C
Validate Combined Annual Aggregate Limit Selected: When (Annual) Aggregate Limit is recorded as type Combined Aggregate Limit the system raises warnings when changing the aggregate limit, cover amount, or reinstatement condition on child section. Reinstatement calculation will only apply reinstatement condition from Main Section, and ignore any local conditions. Worksheet validations for Aggregate Limit will considers the Combined Aggregate Limit on Main Section, and bookings to entire Insured period. Accuracy validations for Aggregate Limit and Reinstatement will reflect this changes.

Cleared: There is no functionality connected with Combined Aggregate Limit . Cover, Aggregate Limit, and reinstatement Condition may be defined per section. Reinstatement calculation is made per section, and applies the condition at appropriate level. Online and accuracy validation behave accordingly.

Relevant when: When the Aggregate Limit defined on Main Section is combined value for all sections of the business.

Applicable for: P&C
Calculate Loss VAT and Reinstatement/Reinstatement VAT on Net Selected: When System Parameter Accounting>P&C Miscellaneous Is Automatic VAT Calculations in use, Reinstatement is calculated excluding the VAT Bookings for Paid Loss as well as Reinstatement i.e. VAT Loss and Reinstatement Loss for the previous bookings are not considered while calculating reinstatement and VAT on reinstatement.
This Parameter requires the following two conditions to be met.

(1) When Use VAT calculation flag on the Business Insured Period is checked and VAT % is defined
OR
The Cedent’s country has a VAT % defined (Reference Data Maintenance>Location).
(2) Both the VAT Paid Loss and the VAT on Reinstatement Entry codes are Flagged with Is VAT Code (check box selected under Flags tab) under Reference Data Maintenance> Entry code maintenance.

Cleared: When The Parameter is cleared, VAT Loss is considered part of Loss when calculating the Reinstatement and VAT on reinstatement.

Claim Ledger

Description
Hide Zero Adjustment on Claim Ledger Selected: The default claim ledger display hides all worksheets where adjustments to all entry codes are zero.

Cleared: The default claim ledger display displays all worksheets, including all zero adjustment worksheets.

Include Client IBNR/ACR as OTHER on Claim Ledger Selected: Bookings for entry codes in the Reserve Sub Categories Additional Case Reserves, ACR-LAE, and Additional/Evaluated Reserves and Client IBNR are grouped in OTHER category on claim ledger and on claim lists.

Cleared: Bookings for the sub categories are grouped as RESERVES

Display Adjustments sort by Approved Date Selected: The Claim ledger bookings are sorted using the date the current worksheet status was set.

Assumed Business Transfer To Ledger These parameters allow the System Administrator to predefine whether assumed business (including Insured’s Contract and Master Agreements) claim worksheet bookings shall be transferred to business ledgers and business partner ledgers. These parameters are general and can be overridden at Claim Program level (Treaty Links window) or on Claim Section level (Claim Section Specific) if the user has the required authority.

Postponed Defined: When changing the status of a claim to Postponed, the system automatically generates the Review Date in the Review Date field in accordance to what is entered here.

Enable Surrender and Maturity Claims Selected: Allows the registration of Surrender or Maturity as Claims to be optional. When selected, claims may be registered that are in respect of Surrender or Maturity.

Cleared: No registration of Surrender or Maturity as a Claim is possible.

Relevant When: If your company does not treat these events as “claims”, this system parameter should not be selected. In this case the registration of Surrender or Maturity will take place as a cession benefit transaction.

Applicable for: Life

Claim Accuracy Validation Rules #

The Claim Accuracy Validations rules allows you to customise which warnings shall be triggered for any business; depending on various characteristics of the insured period. The rules currently include the regular claim warnings, and paid reinstatement and brokerage. Each rule can be defined with a tolerance; in the form of lower and upper limits expressed in a base currency. The rules are applicable for claim worksheets only, and can be activated for manual/FGU worksheets, and eMessaging worksheets.

Note: When a claim accuracy ruleset is applied to an Insured Period; regular warnings no longer applies; although activated in System Parameters.

The accuracy warnings are raised per detail when applying the worksheet, or changing status, and if discrepancy between booking details and checked condition (e.g.limit amount) exceeds the tolerance defined for a rule, a Claim Accracy Acceptance Category is required. Your system administrator may have set up the system to require additional comments for certain Acceptance Categories.

Mandatory Comments for Claim Accuracy Acceptance Categories

  1. Open Claim System Parameters - sub-tab Claim Accuracy Validation
  2. In General tab, select Edit
  3. In the left-hand side of the window, select Edit from popup menu
  4. Select the Acceptance Categories for which an additional comment is required, and move over to selected
  5. Press Save
  6. Press OK

The set up of the actual rules and templates involves 3 steps:

  1. Add the relevant validation rules with required tolerance limits.
  2. Define the template
    • assign rules
    • define pre-check threshold (only applied to reinstatement and brokerage rules)
  3. Define the template identification. (For which insured periods is the template valid)

In the identification of valid templates, the first matching template is applied.

Create New Validation Rule

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Rules tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select Add from popup menu
  4. Define name of rule
  5. Define description of rule
  6. Select the Claim Worksheet Validation to be implemented by this rule.
  7. Define the Deviation Threshold - lower and upper limits.
  8. If required, define Threshold limit for validation rule AC0399 - Target Amount without a corresponding Business Condition (raised when there are bookings present but corresponding condition is missing).
  9. If required, define Threshold limit for validation rule AC0395 - Trigger Amount without a Target Amount (raised when the condition is present but details are missing in the worksheer)
  10. Define the Base Currency to be used for the deviation threshold
  11. Define for which worksheet origins the rule is applicable.
  12. Save

Edit Existing Validation Rule

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Rules tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the rule you want to edit, and select Edit from popup menu
  4. Make required changes
  5. Save

Remove Existing Validation Rule

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Rules tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the rule you want to remove, and select remove from popup menu
  4. Confirm that you want to remove the rule.

Create New Validation Templates

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Templates tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select New from popup menu
  4. Define name of template
  5. Define Pre-Check Threshold - currency and amount. This is only relevant if you include Reinstatement and/or Brokerage rules.
  6. Select the rules to be included in the template
  7. Save
  8. Press OK

Edit Existing Validation Rule

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Templates tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the template you want to edit, and select Edit from popup menu
  4. Make required changes
  5. Save
  6. Press OK

Remove Existing Validation Template

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Template tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the template you want to remove, and select remove from popup menu
  4. Confirm that you want to remove the template

Create New Validation Template Identification

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Template Identification tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select New from popup menu
  4. Define the sequence for the template identification.
  5. Select the template to be used.
  6. Define requirements to the Insured Period: a. Type of Business b. Base Company c. Cedent d. Cedent Country e. Brokers f. Broker Country g. Reinsurers h. Reinsurer Country i. Level of Business j. Type of Participation k. Main Class of Business l. Reporting Unit m. Claim Bdx n. Claim Worksheet Validation Indicator
  7. Save
  8. Press OK

Edit Existing Template Identification

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Template tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the template you want to edit, and select Edit from popup menu
  4. Make required changes
  5. Save
  6. Press OK

Change Sequence of Template Identification

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Template tab
  2. Select the Template identification for which you want to change the sequence
  3. Select “Move Up” or “Move Down” to change the sequence number
  4. Make required changes
  5. Press OK

Remove Existing Validation Template Identification

  1. Open Claim Accuracy Validation Template identification tab
  2. Click the menu button
  3. Select the template identification you want to remove, and select remove from popup menu
  4. Confirm that you want to remove the template identification
