Calculate Period Estimates
The Period Estimates are calculated automatically when a new currency is added. The system then applies the Calculation Rules to all Estimation Items and displays the resulting values. Entries marked as overwritten are not calculated. If the calculated Period Estimates are ok (which should usually be the case) you do not have to change the calculation at all.
If you change some of the values it might be necessary to recalculate the Period Estimates again. This is the case if a calculation rule is based on an overwritten value. After changing a period estimate it is safe to click the Calculate button.
Note! The system does no calculation by just saving the values.
If there are some specific values you do not want to be recalculated, you can mark them as overwritten even though the amount is unchanged. Then the system does not recalculate these Period Estimates anymore. Changing the overwritten indicator back to No brings the period estimate back under the calculation control of the system.
If you want to stop the calculation of some estimation items and/or periods on a general basis, this can be defined in Multi GAAP system parameters. There are two options:
- Stop Calculation on Flagged Estimation Items / Periods. In this case you must use the Multi GAAP Stop Calculation Mass Update, found in the Periodic Functions folder, to set the Stop Calc flag on the Estimation Items and estimation periods that should not be recalculated. The Estimation Items and Periods marked Yes in the Stop Calc column will NOT be recalculated. The Stop Calc flag can be viewed by selecting the View Stop Calculation option in the Period Estimate window.
- Stop Calculation on Closed Periods. In this case, periods prior to and equal to the Last Closed Period defined in the system parameters are NOT recalculated.
The Period Estimates can also be recalculated by an order called Multi GAAP Recalculation Order. The order is available in the Account Order folder of the SICS main menu and has the Order Type Estimation Calculation. The order recalculates the estimate values. This means that the Estimation Items has to be established manually by adding a currency on the Period Estimates as described above.
